The 48th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on Feb. 8, 2006 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). The show also will be supported on radio via Westwood One worldwide, and covered online at www.GRAMMY.yahoo.com.

DVSX ADDS NEW DIRECTORS FOR THE NEW YEAR

Chatsworth, CA - January 19, 2006 -- DVSX is launching what it calls "the most exciting new year in our history" by announcing the addition of several hot directors to its stable. Bobby Manila, Craven Moorehead, Paulo Banana, and Mofo are all now shooting for the company.

"These are four guys we really love," says DVSX head of production, Alex Ladd. "We think they're among the most talented shooters in the industry right now and we're thrilled to have them shooting for us."

Manila recently shot the second entries in the company’s Fine Ass Bitches, Freak Nasty and Pass The Crème lines, as well as the latest volumes of its popular Teen Sensations and Double Parked series.

Moorehead is responsible for the upcoming release, “Fucking Hostile” and the latest tit-centric title “Off The Rack 5” and is shooting a new teen title as well.
 
Banana, for his part, is now shooting Grudgefuck, the popular line which recently won Best Vignette Series at the 2006 AVN Awards.  He is also shooting additional titles of the Ass Factor and Cream Filling lines.

Mofo is currently helming the Sick Girls Need Sick Boys line for the company. He also designs a line of kick ass, hardcore clothing called Mofowear which was showcased at AdultExpo by such starlets as Lexxi Tyler, Tiffany Minx, Avy Lee Roth and Gianna Lynn.

“Four amazingly talented shooters, award-winning lines, and we’re coming off an enormously successful weekend at the AdultExpo,” says Ladd, whose own most recent directorial effort is Sakura Tales 9: More Asian Schoolgirls.  “What’s not to be excited about?”

Adding directors isn’t the only new development for the thriving company.  They recently added industry veteran Ed Kail as national sales manager… and there may just be more big announcements coming up.

“We’re not ready to go on record just yet,” hints DVSX head of sales Javier C. “But I’d keep an eye out for us.   A lot of really exciting things are happening here… 2006 is going to be off the hook.”

One day a mysterious DVD arrives in the mail, which soon reveals to Mike that there is a much darker side to the world of adult entertainment. 

Strange and unexplainable events take place that leave Mike wondering what is going on.  Are the scenes on the DVD the result of elaborate special effects or are there more sinister forces at play. Mike is forced to wonder if the blood real or fake and why is his TV always turning on by itself…

“Slaughter Disc” examines the destructive path of sex addiction in the life of one lonely person. Mike is just a young kid trying to make it in life, but rather than face his problems head on he turns to the delusional world of pornography to hide from his problems. Mike suffers from all the tell tale signs of a sex addict.  He’s a compulsive masturbator and he often lies to his friends on his whereabouts when he is feeding his addiction to pornography. Mike is desensitized to normal sexual relationships and he is constantly spending large amounts of money as he searches for more shocking pornography.

The Film’s Inspiration

Mixing the genres of Horror and Erotica is certainly nothing new.  Whether you look at the seductive lore of the succubus in early religious texts or the voluptuous curves of horror hostess Elvira, Mistress of the Dark on late night TV, one thing is apparent: sex and horror, no pun intended, are perfect bedfellows. 

Filmmaker David Quitmeyer has always loved a good horror story. Many would say that he enjoys them just a little too much. He felt that it was finally the right time to make a horror movie all his own and give something back to the genre that had heavily influenced his life.

As a child, Quitmeyer was a huge fan of television horror anthologies such as Tales from the Darkside, The Twilight Zone, Monsters, and his absolute favorite, Tales from the Crypt. Other early influences in his life were the literary works of Edgar Allen Poe, H.P Lovecraft, Stephen King and Clive Barker.  “Stephen King was my idol growing up,” admits Quitmeyer. “He is a simple family guy, yet he has a fantastic imagination that has entertained millions of people over the years.”

Slaughter Disc is based on Quitmeyer’s original short story “The Tape”, which was written over 15 years ago – long before movies such as The Ring and White Noise existed.  In the original story a college student receives a transparent VCR tape in the mail.  Each time it is viewed, a new horrific sex act is played out on screen.  Eventually friends and family of the viewer are gruesomely murdered and a mysterious woman known as the Bride of Death performs deviant sexual acts with the mutilated corpses.

“The Tape” was re-written to further explore the supernatural realms of modern technology.  Cell phones, DVDs and the World Wide Web were not around when the story was originally written.  David also stripped out most of the gore and sex in order to make the story more acceptable to audiences as well as to allow the movie to be filmed on a shoestring budget.  “I basically cut out all of the effects that I knew I couldn’t do myself”, states Quitmeyer. “If worse came to worse I knew I could hold the camera in one hand and the blood tubing in the other.”

Quitmeyer wanted to not only push the envelope of sex and gore in shoestring budget filmmaking but to also follow in the tradition of great horror films by educating audiences about addiction at the same time.

Addiction affects all of us in one form or another.  Some people drink heavily and others eat too much, but the topic of sex addiction often flies under the public-eye’s radar even as the White House dodges around questions about sexual affairs and sex offenders murder our children.

“There is a moral to almost every horror story out there”, explains Quitmeyer. “Whether it’s don’t play with God’s plans, don’t make fun of people or don’t swim alone, there is also something to be learned. I’ve never seen a movie focus on the growing problem of sex addiction, so I thought it would be an interesting subject to explore from a supernatural perspective. The sad truth is that too much of anything will kill you.”

Rush rings in New Year with Triple Platinum DVD
30th Anniversary Double DVD/CD set tops charts
DVD Concert to U.S. Premiere on VH1 Classic, January 13

January 11, 2006 • Cambridge, MASS - The spirit of Rush is alive and well.
The band's new double DVD, "Rush R30" (Zoe Vision / Rounder) has been heralded
by critics as their most stunning visual presentation to date, and clearly the
fans couldn't agree more. Debuting at #2 on Billboard's video chart, the now
triple platinum, double CD, double DVD set celebrates Rush's 30th Anniversary
as a band which has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, and continues
to be one of rock's biggest grossing touring acts ever. VH1 Classic salutes
the band this coming weekend, as they present the U.S. television premiere of
"Rush - R30," the concert performance from the band's sold-out 30th Anniversary
World Tour, starting on January 13.

While the band has released numerous concert videos over the years, this set
is the definitive one - the one fans have been waiting for. The first disc
captures the group's $21-million grossing Tour and was filmed with 14
hi-definition cameras in 16x9 widescreen format at the Festhalle, Frankfurt Germany on
September 24, 2004. The set spans the band's diverse 30-year career, and
includes favorites "Hemispheres," "The Spirit of Radio," "Working Man," "Anthem,"
"Tom Sawyer," "Subdivisions," "Earthshine," "2112" and "Limelight" as well as
"Crossroads" and "Summertime Blues," their 2004 covers EP 'Feedback.' All
phases of the band's development are well represented through 22 electrifying songs.

"We had a great show that night," says singer and bassist Geddy Lee.
"Everything clicked. The crowd was great and there were people from all over the
world. It's amazing how far people will travel to see us. We shot it in the middle
of the European tour, and we did it in Frankfurt because we had access to the
kind of recording gear to shoot it in high definition."

The second DVD on "Rush R30" is a historical retrospective that features rare
and classic performance footage dating from the 1970's to their recent 2005
Tsunami relief benefit concert. The disc also includes interview footage culled
from the past three decades. The Deluxe Edition of "Rush-R30" also features
two CDs with the complete soundtrack from the Frankfurt concert DVD, two
limited edition Rush guitar picks and a souvenir backstage pass.

"Rush R-30" will air Friday, January 13 at 9 pm, Saturday, January 14 at 10
am and 10 pm and Sunday, January 15 at 9 am and 9 pm EST.

In addition, VH1 Classic will air encore presentations of "Hangin' With
Rush," featuring in-studio interviews with band members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson
discussing the Frankfurt concert, new album and their plans for 2006 and how
they were paid only ten dollars for their first performance as a band in a
church basement in 1968.

"Hangin' With Rush" will air Friday, January 13 at 3 pm and 3 am and

“Anatomy of a Drum Solo” (Hudson Music / Rounder-Universal). It features
newly-recorded, in-studio footage of legendary drum artist Peart, also known as the
"Professor," analyzing, discussing and dissecting his unique approach to the art of
soloing. “The drum solo is a tradition handed down to us, our heritage, as it

HOLLYWOOD (January 10, 2006) – Famed keyboardist, Derek Sherinian, is in the studio producing yet another masterpiece. The new untitled work is currently underway in Sherinian’s own Beachwood Manor Studios in Burbank, CA. This new album is slated to be released June 2006 worldwide on InsideOut Music in the US & Europe, and Marquee /Avalon in Japan.

After a nine month World Tour with Billy Idol, Sherinian went immediately into the studio. With the immense reception to last year’s album Mythology, he decided to bring back several of the available players that made it happen. Craig Ferguson" is set to host the 32nd ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS, to be
broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Tuesday, Jan. 10
(9:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.  The
first awards show of 2006 honors favorite performers in television, movies
and music.  Nominees in each category will be announced at a press
conference on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in the
Blossom Room and the voting web site will launch in tandem.  Votes can be
placed at www.pcavote.com from Nov.10 through the
broadcast when the winners will be announced.

Craig Ferguson got his start in the entertainment industry in Scotland where
he spent several years performing as a drummer for some of the worst punk
bands in the U.K. Following his musical stint, he spent some time bartending in a local Glasgow pub where some key acquaintances persuaded him to give acting a try.  He quickly learned he had a knack for comedy and was soon staring in his own BBC television show, "The Ferguson Theory."  After several years on the English comedy circuit, Ferguson brought his act to America and starred with Betty White and Marie Osmond in a short-lived ABC
comedy "Maybe This Time."  Following the end of the ABC comedy, Ferguson was
added to the cast of "The Drew Carey Show," playing the roll of Drew Carey's
boss for seven years.

The People's Choice Awards will feature new and revamped categories that

LUNATICA BRING FABLES & DREAMS TO LIFE

SUHR, Switzerland--Female-fronted symphonic metal band Lunatica is prepared to make its impact on America with the release of its album, 'Fables & Dreams,' on Frontiers/Locomotive Records.

"We are really satisfied with 'Fables & Dreams,'" said singer Andrea. "The first album, 'Atlantis,' that we recorded in 2001 was not satisfying us at all. We still like the songs but the quality of the production is quite poor compared to what you can hear on the new album. On 'Fables & Dreams,' we wanted to have a more professional approach. The songs are more worked out and we had more time for the recording."

To help achieve this, producer Sascha Paeth (Rhapsody, Kamelot, Angra) was brought in.  "It was the first time that we did the recording in a professional studio," said Andrea. "Sascha and the other guys from Gate Studio gave us some good advice concerning the way of recording, and he had also good ideas for the production. We trusted him absolutely and just let him work and I think he brought the best out of our songs."

The seeds of the Swiss band were planted in 1998 by Alex (keyboards) and Sandro (guitar).  Lunatica combines catchy melodic metal with the beautifully sung lyrics of vocalist Andrea, who joined the band in 2001.

"I sing in a normal way," Andrea said. "This means not in the opera style, more like pop songs. Nevertheless, my voice is strong enough to be heard through the heavy guitar sound.  That's important for the live concerts."

Upon its release in Switzerland, 'Fables & Dreams' climbed directly number 13 on the Swiss Internet charts. Several months later, 'Fables & Dreams' remained in the top 100 of the Swiss selling charts.

"It was a big surprise but also a big pleasure for us," said Andrea. "We have a huge support by the fans and a good distributor in Switzerland. They did a lot of promo and we did also get some radio airplay although this style of music is normally not that much supported by radio stations in Switzerland."

CRISS ANGEL GUEST STARS ON NBC HIT SERIES LAS VEGAS

NEW YORK – New York mystifier Criss Angel will guest star on the November 14
episode of NBC’s hit show “Las Vegas.”

In the “Bold, Beautiful and Blue,” the Montecito Casino’s newest
attractions are disappearing, and while this is part of Criss Angel’s world
renowned illusion show, it was not the FBI’s plan when it entrusted the
security of the world’s largest star sapphire, “The Star of Kashmir” to
the casino security team.  

“I had a terrific time filming this,” Angel said.  “I am used to filming
my own shows, but this was a completely new experience with different
challenges.”

This episode will air Monday, November 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

with Myspace.com to preview 16 previously unreleased tracks from their upcoming
soundtrack for the TV anthology "Masters of Horror" (Showtime) on
www.myspace.com/mastersofhorror. The highly anticipated, 30-song double-disc
comes out on October 18.

The Masters of Horror preview which runs now through release date, features
today's top metal, metalcore, punk, screamo and emo bands, including Mudvayne,
Buckethead featuring System of a Down singer Serj Tankian, In Flames,
Thursday, Mastodon, Avenged Sevenfold, Shadows Fall, Rise Against and Every Time
I Die. This marks the first time these songs have been available to the public.

"Masters of Horror," which debuts on Showtime in time for Halloween and runs
through the end of January 2006, features 13 chilling hour-long films directed
by top North American horror auteurs, including John Carpenter ("Halloween"),
Tope Hooper ("Texas Chainsaw Massacre"), John Landis ("An American Werewolf
in London"), Don Coscarelli ("Phantasm"), Mick Garris ("The Stand"), Stuart
Gordon ("Re-Animator"),  and William Malone ("FearDotCom"). The series also
attracted several huge international directors, including Dario Argento
("Suspiria") and Takashi Miike ("Audition"). Each episode in the anthology will
include music from the soundtrack.

In addition, videos were recently shot for It Dies Todayís ìEnjoy the
Silenceî and Buckethead and Tankianís ìWe Are One.î The It Dies today  video was
directed by S. Pax Franchot IV and combines the look and feel of early David
Lynch with plot elements from stories by Edgar Allen Poe. The ìWe Are Oneî video
features Tankian as a derelict vagabond that collects animal carcasses for
Buckethead, a benevolent cabin dweller who attempts to bring the dead animals
back to life. In his attempt to resurrect the carcasses,Buckethead winds up being
attacked by the mutating creatures. "I think the track lends itself well to the
horror genre," Tankian says.

The "Masters of Horror" preview on Myspace will also showcase previously
unreleased songs by Andrew WK, Norma Jean, From Autumn to Ashes, Alkaline Trio,
Scary Kids Scaring Kids and Funeral For a Friend.

"I've always felt we would make a good date with horror flicks. Now it's time
to prove it," says Avenged Sevenfold singer M. Shadows. "The live recording
of 'Beast and the Harlot' that we contributed is very in your face and driving
and will team up nicely with whatever scares will be created in the movie it
gets used in."

"The feeling of 'horror' is a very particular one," Andrew WK adds. "My song
'YouWill Remember Tonight' attempts to take that dreadful feeling and manipulate
it into some thing thrilling and exciting. I think that's essentially what
horror movies are trying to do, too. It feels good to feel scared."

"Masters of Horror" developed out of an informal bi-monthly dinner attended
by many of the horror genre's most admired directors. Garris, who spearheaded
the series, took their ideas from the realm of fantasy into reality along with
co-executive producer Andrew Dean, and will be the showrunner of the
anthology. "Masters of Horror" is an IDT Entertainment production.

Lisa Marie Presley will hit the road again this fall, on the second leg of her "Now What Tour" kicking off on November 6th in Portland, OR and stopping in many cities, including Chicago and San Diego, for the first time ever.  Now What, the follow-up to her 2003 Gold debut, To Whom It May Concern, debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year.

Presley is actively participating in many Recording Academy(r) events including; The Recording Academy Honors(tm) in Memphis where she will present a special award to Isaac Hayes on October 22.  She will also join the GRAMMY Foundation(r) to participate in a GRAMMY(r) SoundCheck on November 11th at LA's House of Blues, during which she and other industry professionals will meet with a group of music students to discuss career opportunities available to them within the music industry and she is also actively involved in the MusiCares(r) Hurricane Relief effort. She will also be the Grand Marshall at a special NASCAR event in Memphis on October 22.

Now What is a personal and powerful collection of songs. Presley wrote the lyrics for 10 of its tracks, collaborating with Linda Perry and others on the music. The current single is a personal spitfire rocker called "Idiot" featuring Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones; Presley shot a video for this track in LA this past weekend. The album is touched by joy and love ("Thanx," inspired by her close-knit circle of friends) and "Raven," (a moving tribute to her mother, Priscilla Presley) and naked anger on cultural matters on the super-charged version of Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry," which was the lead single.

Since its release, Presley has appeared on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," "Late Show With David Letterman," "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "Good Morning America," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Larry King Live." ADEMA will be coming off their own headlining tour to join the Brides on a tour of debauchery in support of their latest album release PLANETS. GLENN DANZIG ANNOUNCES "BLACKEST OF THE BLACK" TOUR 2005
 
Glenn Danzig, at the forefront of the hardcore/dark metal movement for more
than 25 years, announces that the 2005 "Blackest of the Black" tour will
kick off in San Diego at the end of September and end on the west coast on
Halloween weekend. For the sophomore year of this Fall traveling festival,
Danzig has assembled a line-up of the crème de la crème of the
hardcore/dark/black metal bands - Chimaira, Behemoth, Himsa, Mortiis
(ex-Emperor), and The Agony Scene.  Danzig will headline.
 
Danzig's performance on all dates of the "Blackest of the Black" tour will
feature former Misfits' guitarist Doyle Von Frankenstein for a special
30-minute set of Misfits classics.  Doyle joined Danzig on a handful of tour
dates last winter (New York, Philadelphia, Boston) for "the closest thing to
a Misfits reunion you're going to see."
 
"'The Blackest of the Black' tour is for extreme bands that sell out venues
across the country, that sell records, but don't get radio play or get on
MTV," said Danzig. "It's anti the corporate crap nu-rap-metal that gets
shoved down fans' throats at other concerts." The "Blackest of the Black"
festival was organized by Danzig and debuted in the Summer of 2003 with
Danzig, Superjoint Ritual, Opeth, Nile, Lacuna Coil and Behemoth on the
bill. "I'd like to see this being an on-going event," Danzig added.
 
In addition to organizing and headlining the "Blackest of the Black" tour,
Glenn Danzig saw the release of the DVD "Il Demonio Nera" (evilive) on July
12. "Il Demonio Nera" is a collection of videos, video outtakes, alternative
versions and previously unreleased music videos from the band's "Danzig 4"
and "Danzig 5" CDs.  His new CD, "Black Aria II," the follow up to 1993's
"Black Aria," has been completed and will be released later this year, and
Glenn is in the process of shooting his first feature film, "Gerouge," which
he has written and will direct.  "Gerouge" is based on one of the comic book
titles distributed by his Verotik publishing company, and concerns Turn of
the Century New Orleans Voodoo.
 
Glenn Danzig has received many titles, from the Godfather of dark metal, to
a punk pioneer, to a man of integrity, but most agree that over his 25-year
career, his intense musical and lyrical statements have left a permanent
mark on rock music.  He is a gifted songwriter, and his songs have been
covered by such diverse artists as Johnny Cash, Metallica, Guns N' Roses,
Roy Orbison and Evan Dando, just to name a few.  Danzig's music is dark,
gothic, and haunting, and
continues to influence generation after generation of musicians and music
fans worldwide.

With their new album, Bring It On!, on the front burner and set for release on September 13th, 2005, the HORRORPOPS will be taking to the road for the first time since the release of their highly-successful debut album, Hell Yeah!, which dropped in February of 2005.

New York City punk rock legends ROGER MIRET AND THE DISASTERS will be returning to their usual element: the road!  This tour will be the first leg of dates the band will be doing in support of their most recent full-length release, 1984, which also hit streets in February, 2005.

Two-time Warped Tour veterans and old-school punk rock outfit LEFT ALONE will also join the tour while supporting their new album LONELY STARTS AND BROKEN HEARTS, which was released on June 21, 2005 on Hellcat Records. THE DRESDEN DOLLS, from Boston, MA, will hunker down in Allaire Studios in New York from September 10-19th with producers Sean Slade & Paul Q Kolderie (Radiohead, Hole, Pixies) to record the follow-up to their critically acclaimed, self-titled debut album. The duo, called “sometimes brutal, sometimes comic, always riveting,” by The New York Times, is also preparing for the October 11th release of their first ever DVD, PARADISE.   The Dolls’ plan to support that release with a North American headlining tour from October 12th to October 31st. The past two years have been a whirlwind for Amanda Palmer & Brian Viglione. They’ve traveled the world, playing sold-out shows, winning fans over with their energetic and captivating live show, showcasing Palmer’s hauntingly personal lyrics and thunderous piano playing and Viglione’s drumming versatility.

The Dresden Dolls’, as-yet-untitled sophomore album will feature road-tested songs including “Backstabber,” “Shores of California,” “Sex Changes,” “Mrs. O.,” and  “My Alcoholic Friends,” among others. This sophomore album promises to retain the intensity of their debut, recorded in producer Martin Bisi’s basement (Sonic Youth, The Swans), but will take that unpolished, dangerous, lo-fi vibe steps further. “Sean and Paul have been following the band’s growth for the past two years and have a real understanding of what we’re trying to capture,” says Palmer. “The record is going to be fast and furious, immediate and raw.”  The themes and lyrics for the new material will be just as eclectic as the selections from the last record, with styles that could only be created from Palmer's emotional, brutally honest palette.

The upcoming DVD, Paradise was named after the venue at which this show was recorded and is a time capsule of the magic and madness conjured that night in Boston on June 5th 2005. At 11.58pm on that Sunday, after a five hour delay that had all hands on deck scrambling trying to restore power to parts of Boston, the generators at the Paradise Theatre kicked in and the assembly of street performers, actors and vaudevillians who had been entertaining the waiting crowds cleared the way as The Dresden Dolls took to the stage. The tracks that appear on Paradise (full track listing below) were pulled from the band’s highly successful eponymous debut CD, plus four stunning cover songs that will only be available on this DVD. Says Amanda Palmer, “The DVD is crucial for us because one of the keys to fully understanding what this band is about is to see the energy we create while playing live.” Also included is an intimate hour-long documentary following the band and “The Brigade,” the collection of artists and performers that follows the band.

After wrapping up the recording of their new album, The Dresden Dolls will embark on a two-week headlining tour of the US from October 12th to October 21st.  Tour stops will include the Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO, Metro in Chicago, IL, St. Andrews Hall in Detroit, MI, Webster Hall in New York, NY and the Avalon Ballroom in their hometown of Boston, MA. As their cache has increased so has their production, with the band adding professional artistic directors on the road, insuring that the pre and post-show antics are taken to an entirely new level of intensity.

Comprised of pianist/singer Palmer and drummer/guitarist Viglione, The Dresden Dolls’ sound and image resonates a combination of the smoky cellars of a Weimar-era cabaret with the full fury of rock n’ roll.  The national buzz has built steadily through rave reviews in Flaunt, Soma, The New York Times, LA Times, Under the Radar, Boston Globe and more as well as by making their national late night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Additionally, MTV2 and MTVu have shown considerable support for the band by playing the videos for “Girl Anachronism” and “Coin-Operated Boy”- the latter was named one of the 10 BEST videos of 2004 by MTV’s Subterranean- as voted on by the audience. Additionally the band was hand-picked by Trent Reznor to be direct support on the acclaimed Nine Inch Nails 2005 US tour and played the Coachella Festival. To date the band’s debut album has sold over 100,000 copies.

As if headlining the 2005 Warped Tour 2005 wasn’t enough to promote their acclaimed Warriors Code CD release, the DROPKICK MURPHYS are set to embark on their very own fall headline tour with a bunch of their hometown compatriots.

Dubbed the Boston Invasion Tour, it kicks off at the Marquee in Tempe, Arizona on October 10th and continues across the U.S. and into Canada through late November.  A third and final Los Angeles show has been added to the Boston Invasion Tour. Friday October 14th - House Of Blues, West Hollywood CA with special guests Youth Brigade and The Dead Pets (from the UK)

This years Boston Music Awards took place on September 28th at The Avalon Ballroom. The DROPKICK MURPHYS received two awards this year: one for “Song of the Year” (“Tessie”), “and another award for “Outstanding Pop/Rock Band of the year.”

Speaking of “Tessie,” the Red Sox are in the post season and the band’s classic fall baseball anthem is prominently featured in the just released Farrely Brothers DVD of Fever Pitch. Chicago, IL, September 6, 2005‹Smog Veil Records announces the debut album
by the Unknown Instructors titled The Way Things Work.  The record is set to
hit retail on September 20, 2005. Radio promotions are being handled by the
record label in-house.  Smog Veil is distributed by Revolver, Super D,
Morphius, Scratch (Canada), Southern, CTD, Choke, Get Hip, Cargo,
Subterranean, Zing/KOCH (Canada), FAB (Canada) and World Chaos Productions
(Japan).  RocknRetail are handling marketing.

The Way Things Work was recorded in a manner befitting the content. Dan
McGuire, poet, voice and orchestrator of the project explains, ³the
production was minimal: set up, get the levels and play, live and wholly
improvised in the studio.  We figured this approach would greatly increase
the odds of combustion taking place.  The whole thing was recorded in one
four-hour session at Karma Studio in San Pedro, California‹the same place
where Mike [Watt] recorded his latest record, The Second Man's Middle Stand,
a few months later.²  Guitar player Joe Baiza (Saccharine Trust, Universal
Congress Of) relates, ³In the studio we quietly set up and then suddenly
were playing. There was nothing to talk about, only sounds to make.²
Bassist Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE, Stooges) adds, ³Dan had us do jams
we made up on the spot for the pieces.  It was so great to play with these
cats again!²

Co-producer credits go to Joe Baiza and Dan McGuire.  McGuire elaborates on
the production aspect of the album, stating ³Joe and I spent a lot of time
exchanging ideas on what music to use, how it should be edited, the running
order of the tracks, etc.²  Among Baiza¹s numerous production credits is
Saccharine Trust¹s latest record, The Great One Is Dead.  Interestingly,
Watt produced Saccharine Trust¹s We Became Snakes, and also played bass on
their Worldbroken record. ³That album,² McGuire says, ³was the inspiration
for, and is very similar in approach to the Unknown Instructors
record‹totally improvised music meets poetry head-on.²

In addition to Watt and drummer extraordinaire George Hurley being joined at
the hip as the rhythm section in the Minutemen and fIREHOSE for fifteen
years, Baiza has toured with different configurations of Watt¹s solo bands
on several occasions as well.  Thus, including Saccharine Trust vocalist
Jack Brewer seemed only natural.  On the interconnected history of the
musicians, McGuire says ³they are long-time friends and collaborators dating
back to the 70's.  They were label mates at SST and Saccharine¹s first gig
was opening for the Minutemen.²

Smog Veil Records owner Frank Mauceri is thrilled to have this album on his
roster.  "This record really gets back to the ethos that the members first
became known for.  But it adds, I think, elements of free jazz, beat poetry,
and some crunching riffs.  Put together the production of Saccharine Trust's
Surviving You, Always and the Minutemen's Double Nickels on the Dime, add a
pinch of Amon Duul II's Yeti and you¹ve got this record."  Frank also notes
that he is equally excited about the group¹s next effort, which will be
recorded this October, and will include a collaboration with David Thomas of
Pere Ubu/Rocket From The Tombs, also a Smog Veil artist.

Julian Cope named McGuire¹s album, Jamnation, Album of the Month for July,
2005 on his Head Heritage site (www.HeadHeritage.co.uk).  ³This is rock Œn¹
roll and this is improvised genius, getting to your destination any way you
possibly can,² Cope writes, ³It sounds inspirational and visionary and like
every great freeform rant.  You¹ve heard this all before already but never
in this order.  This is the new order.  This superb album is something to
grow and grow on us all . . . Look Out!²  LA Weekly has written many times
about Saccharine Trust and in one article describes them as
³Beatnik-flavored lyrical poetry odd and forlorn, even creepy, while at
other times upbeat and jazzy . . . a project that was more expressionism
than traditional rock music.  Its sound evolved into jazz punk with a
forlorn beatnik flare, which remains the signature Saccharine Trust sound to
this day.²  Endless reviews and write-ups can be found on the Minutemen,
fIREHOSE, and Watt and Hurley¹s enumerable projects and tours, including
current  stints as bassist for the reconstituted Stooges and Red Krayola
drummer, respectively.

HRM/BodogMusic recording artist Bif Naked's "Superbeautifulmonster" album cover artwork has been banned from all forms of high school advertising in the United States as too provocative. 

Peter Karroll, president of BodogMusic, said the label bought a campaign from a major school promotion company to run significant postering in over 4,500 U.S. high schools.  The posters featured the album cover art featuring Bif Naked, the tattooed punk/alternative goddess.  The album has already hit the streets across Canada and has not received any negative reaction.  Karroll is surprised by the rejection of the "Superbeautifulmonster" cover art in the U.S.  The album is scheduled for a September 20th release date in America.

The artwork features Bif Naked in a mini skirt and a traditional Indian decorative dance top exposing tattooed body art on her mid-section and arms.

"I guess some people believe that continued exposure to my album cover will cause the ruination of teens in America...I think they overestimate the photo," says  Bif.

BodogMusic tried to resolve the problem with the promotion company by suggesting a large censored sign across Bif's chest area.  That was the least of their problems.  BodogMusic soon discovered that the exposure of body art, the look in her eye, the aggressive stance and some of the decorative swirls airbrushed in the background of the album cover were deemed "satanic."  It was deemed unacceptable for U.S. high school students.

Bif Naked is one of the most identifiable recording artist's in Canada.  Since the early 90's, Bif Naked has churned the melting pot of Canadian music pushing the boundaries of acceptability with her conviction that anything goes and nothing can stop her.  Bif's new album, "Superbeautifulmonster," was 4 years in the making with parts harvested and assembled from over 50 songs written and recorded.  The final 13 tracks are an infectious, introspective and powerful collection of work.

Statement on Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts

The Hurricane Katrina disaster has been devastating, profound and life altering for its victims, their families, friends and the nation. This is the time when we must come together and take care of those who need our help. Therefore, The Recording Academy, the nonprofit organization that is the voice of thousands of music makers nationwide, along with its MusiCares Foundation, which provides a safety net of critical services for music people in crisis, is committing an initial donation of $1 million for music people affected by Hurricane Katrina.

The MusiCares Hurricane Relief Fund has been set up so these people in crisis can get help.  Assistance includes basic living expenses such as shelter, food, utilities, transportation; medical expenses including doctor, dentist and hospital bills, medications; clothing; instrument and recording equipment replacement; relocation costs; school supplies for students; insurance payments and more.

Along with this donation, each of The Academy's 12 regional Chapters will designate local programming that will continue the fundraising efforts to help the thousands of music people whose lives and livelihoods have been impacted by these tragic events. The Recording Academy, The Latin Recording Academy, MusiCares Foundation and the GRAMMY Foundation also have created a matching fund with their employees to help ensure that music continues to be the thread that brings people together and helps us all heal. August 15, 2005, LOS ANGELES -- On October 18, Immortal Records will release
the soundtrack to the highly anticipated Masters of Horror series, a 13
episode anthology directed by today's most renowned horror directors.  The
specially-priced, extravagantly packaged, double disc CD will be comprised
entirely of brand new and previously unreleased material from over 25 of today's top rock,
metal, punk, and emo artists, including Mudvayne, Buckethead featuring Serj
Tankian of System of a Down, Thursday, Shadows Fall, Andrew WK, Norma Jean, and
more. The series will debut in October on Showtime, with IDT Entertainment,
Industry Entertainment and Nice Guy Productions producing.  The soundtrack is

Masters of Horror will feature 13 new one-hour horror films from acclaimed
genre directors Dario Argento (Suspiria), John Carpenter (Halloween), Larry

Howling), Mick Garris (The Stand, Riding the Bullet), Stuart Gordon
(Re-Animator),
Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist),  John Landis (An American
Werewolf in London), William Malone (FearDotCom, House on Haunted Hill), Lucky
McKee (May), and Takashi Miike (Audition, Ichi The Killer).

The collaboration marks the first time these prominent directors have joined
forces, so it's only fitting that a comparable roster of bands was assembled
for the soundtrack. Confirmed to join the aforementioned contributing artists
are Rise Against, Matchbook Romance, From Autumn to Ashes, Armor for Sleep, 
Everytime I Die, HopesFall, Fear Before the March of Flames, Bear vs. Shark, The
Bronx, It Dies Today, Choidos, A Change of Pace, Death by Stereo, Murder by
Death, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, The Bled, and Yesterday's Rising. The all-star
lineup boasts aggregate sales of over 15 million units. Additional bands and
track listings will be announced as they are confirmed.

Says series Executive Producer Garris of the important roll music plays in the
Masters of Horror series, "Horror is to cinema what rock n' roll is to
music: rebellious, transgressive, loud and abrasive. And the sound of horror is
every bit as important as the vision. Horror can be quiet and sneak up on you,
and just give you a chill. Or it can grab you by the throat and rip out your
trachea. We hope to embrace the full range on the Masters of Horror soundtrack."

Masters of Horror grew out of an informal bi-monthly dinner attended by many
of the horror genre's most highly regarded directors. Garris transformed their
collective desire to work together into reality, and will serve as the
showrunner for the series. The series was developed by Garris along with
executive producers Andrew Deane and Keith Addis, and is an IDT Entertainment production.

Fearing they were so accomplished that surely they must already be signed, I nevertheless immediately contacted the band; the rest is history. I went to see what turned out to be their fourth show with ten people from the Epitaph office. After the band finished playing, we all looked at each other in awe and disbelief that this could be a band’s fourth show. They were that good!”

With their powerful We Are Always Searching EP in place and set for an “All Hallows Eve” release, I AM GHOST will continue to play sporadically around Southern California, all the while writing their first full-length album for release on Epitaph in 2006.
